I posted a previous review of the construction flaw and how the chair was ripping apart at the leather seams. The following day after I contacted CB2 a representative called me to discuss the problem. They had indicated that this was the first time they have encountered this issue in either the brown or black chair. They scheduled for a new chair to be delivered 2 days later and this morning it arrived, brand new no charge. My biggest concern is if this happens again because so far it appears to look exactly the same as the last chair. Maybe the leather was dried out and more brittle on the previous chair, I don't know. It only lasted about 2 months so it won't take long to determine if this chair has the same problems. The representative said if it happens again to call and they will continue to work with me to make things right. It really is a nice and very comfortable/versatile chair. It is a bit pricey at just under $400, especially if it keeps needing to be replaced. If the quality and price matched a bit closer then this would easily be a 5 out of 5.

Design or Construction Flaw?

Let me start by saying I love this chair. It is comfortable, it is light and slides around easily in my small NYC apartment for versatile furniture arrangements. It came with plastic pads which all broke and fell off in a few days. No big deal, I placed some felt adhesive pads in their place which I prefer on hardwood floors anyway.
The chair is comfortable. Very comfortable. My issue is that after 3 months of ownership the stitches along the seam in the back and seat are all tearing apart. Now I'm not a big guy. I'm 5'10" and weigh 165. I use the chair everyday but just for a sit here and there. Not for marathon movie sessions or using as a platform to do arial stunts from. The design of the leather stitching is right at the maximum load bearing area of the chair. Leather will stretch with time and stress naturally, so the worst thing to do is to put holes and stitches along an area that will receive a lot of stress. Needless to say the chair is no longer comfortable.
I chatted with a customer service rep online and they are replacing the chair for me. I'm a happy sitter, but the jury still remains. Is it a flaw in the design? Will the next one rip at the stitches like the first? Or was it just a bad piece of leather? To be determined, but thanks CB2 for attempting to correct the issue. For now I'd make another purchase from CB2, but if the next chair falls apart like the first I will stop spending money here and find better quality products at this price.
