Great lamp
Date:03/31/2013
Installation was challenging but looks awesome in my 18ft open beam dinning room above a large table. Make sure you line up the seam to a less visible direction. Only one bulb is too dim for me so I spend 98 cents on a Y socket and use two 100 w CFL, it's perfect.

Looks GREAT, better with more/brighter light.
Date:03/06/2013
We installed this great looking pendant in our new home, in the ample sized great room, with high ceilings over a rather large dining table. It's the perfect shape, larger diameter but not too tall with a nice light color finish, BUT it would be super fab if it gave off more light...with another 150 w bulb, I'd give it 5 stars. It receives tons of compliments.

High-end Look, Great Price
Date:03/05/2013
I purchased the oversized pendant and it is stunning. It looks like I paid big bucks for it. I've read other reviews that mentioned lack of light and difficult to install. I have plenty of light (maximum wattage light bulb plus a dimmer switch) and installed it by myself. I stacked 3 plastic storage bins on top of each other, placed the shipping box on top of those, and placed the pendant on top of that. It held the pendant high up while I did the wiring. Took a tip from another reviewer and placed small magnets (purchased from a building supply store) on the inside metal frame to level pendant. I couldn't be more pleased.

Works well in living room
Date:02/22/2013
We originally purchased this for the dining area in our newly built home ( still under construction when we purchased) but as the lighting went up we realized it looked so much nicer in the larger family room where the low light was perfect.
It is beautiful - great soft light for dining area

Lamp discolored, very disappointed
Date:01/10/2013
We liked this lamp at first, but it would not hang evenly from the beginning. Has a slight lean despite numerous attempts to level. Worst of all, the lamp became discolored a little after one year. Now have wavy brown lines on sides which are very noticable when light is on. Would not recommend...
Response from CB2:By Customer Service, 01/25/2013
We appreciate your feedback and apologize for your experience with the oversized equator pendant lamp We are sorry to hear that your oversized equator pendant lamp isn't hanging level and has become discolored, this should not be happening. We’re happy to replace your lamp. Customer Service will contact you to arrange for a replacement. Thank you for taking the time to write a product review. Your feedback is important….and appreciated.
this huge lamp only has one bulb, so the light output is not as high as it should be. I added 4 more lights to this fixture and it is perfect that way. It cost more to retrofit but worth the effort. Just wish it had more bulbs to start with. A single up to 150 watt in an enclosed shade just does not do the trick.

Fashion is punishment
Date:11/23/2012
I agree with Miggysgirl44 100%. The lamp is modern, simple, stylish and priced really well.
However, I didn't believe how painful it was to install. I have 9.5' ceilings and only used 24" of rope when there is 102". It was near impossible to stuff the excess rope into the electrical box and the canopy and then screw the canopy into the ceiling, all the while holding the giant lamp shade while up 7' up in the air. It took 2.5 hours, alot of sweat and sore shoulders and I nearly gave up hope. Successfully installing the lamp was an exercise in marriage building.
The interior screws are too short (I had to use existing screws) and the exterior screws are too small (dropped them several times) and the electrical wire in the rope seems much thinner than my household wire.
After reading about the light density of the fabric I pre-purchased a GE Crystal Clear 150W incandscent light bulb (rated at 2700 lumens). To sum it up, it is too bright. The majority of the light reflects off the bottom shade, back onto the ceiling and floods the room. The wire frame give distracting shadows. I'm definately going to install a dimmer.
It's been a day since I installed it but I think I will overcome the emotional trauma of the installation to enjoy the lamp soon.

Fashion is painful!
Date:10/23/2012
This lamp is clean, modern and simple. It totally changed the look of our dining room. For the price, it can't be beat. But my husband and I, like many others, struggled with installation. It looks deceptively easy but the instructions are overly simplified. We had so much trouble accomplishing simple things like getting all the extra cord to stay within the canopy and getting the canopy to screw to the mounting plate. This definitely takes two people. My arms are still sore from holding the lamp over my head while he worked on the installation. It definitely tested our patience with the lamp and with each other, but it was worth it in the end. Note - It does have a beigy tinge when the light is on, as some other reviewers have said. Also, it really is HUGE, especially for an enclosed room like our dining room, but it makes an impact. Buy it but beware ... as my husband says "fashion is painful."

Absorbs, does not disperse the light
Date:09/27/2012
We recently bought a house in which this lamp had been installed in the dining room. This lamp is one of the worst lamps I have ever encountered. Nearly all of the light is absorbed by the extensive, thick fabric that constitues the lampshade. Buy this lamp only if your goal is to have all of the light from the light bulb go to waste and not illuminate your room.

Dinning room lighting
Date:09/11/2012
Was looking for simple and elegant pendant lamp for our dining room that would go well with our rather large dining room table 104x47. This lamp is gorgeous and gets plenty of nice compliments from guest. It was easy to install and only needs one light bulb. I would highly recommend this to anyone and the price is right as well.

great value
Date:09/10/2012
This lamp is a great value. It looks like it's a lot more expensive and works well with my modern furnishings. It is quite large and is perfect with my 16 foot ceilings. I had to hang it a few inches higher than recommended because of its size.

beautiful fixture
Date:09/01/2012
Other than wishing that this fixture provided a little more wattage for all it's dimension (and that it could be purchased in a store rather than needing to be shipped), I am in love with this fixture. Beautiful and incredible presence in any room. LOVE.

We have been looking for a large hanging lamp. We couldn't find anything as these lights that weren't too expensive. These are perfect and we couldn't be happier.

I love the shape of the lamp, but I was hoping for a true white as some of the photos indicate. Make sure you realize there is a yellow tint to the shade and there is only one bulb. I tried out about 8 different bulbs before I found one that didn't cast my walls in too yellow a hue.
If you're curious, I went with a 150watt GE reveal bulb.

We bought this lamp three years ago for our dining room. I would give it 5 stars, however, three years later I still remember it being a pain in the butt to install and get level. But, once we did, it looked beautiful. We always get great comments about it and the diffused light is wonderful. We have it on a dimmer, so that we can control how much light it puts out. I would definitely recommend this light!

Got this light for my daughter's room. It looks fantastic. BUT, I'll remember the install process for quite a while. The center mounting bolt in my light was far too short to reach the threaded bracket (about 3/4 inch too short). I ended up just using the outer plate screws to secure the mounting plate to the bracket sans the mounting bolt. Even that required some modifications to line up the screws with the holes.
Another point, I strongly suggest measuring your tension wire length carefully. If you pull it too far, there's no going back on the length.
