The oversize shade and tripod legs are just our style. Adjustable height is nice. We replaced the CFL light bulb it came with to a regular incandescant A-lamp. (I just don't like CFLs at all). Only bad thing is that I wish it had a dimmer switch.

I bought this lamp and it is great. It looks fantastic in my living room.
The only thing I would change about it is that it is pretty dim, so it doesn't light up the room entirely but it provides great ambient lighting.

Just got this lamp today and had to write a review – it's that good. Modern, sophisticated, and awesome for the price. We were trying to decide between this and the big dipper lamp for our living room, but ultimately went with this one as it seemed to fit better in the space. Assembly was a breeze and the metal pieces are substantial and high-quality. The shade is also (as another reviewer noted) larger/better than we anticipated, and it's beautiful. The adjustable height makes it easy to work it into whatever space you have. Gives off great light – warm, bright, but not too much. The foot pedal switch is a fun bonus.

Don’t let the name fool you. I used this lamp on a Thursday!
It is a great piece for any day of the week. Its sleek “tripod” stand is adjustable, and the on/off switch lies on the floor for easy illumination with one’s foot, gee whiz, that’s fancy! It says (bulb not included), but low and behold, there was a brand new bulb nicely packaged within the lamp’s temporary cardboard house. I guess all that rubbing of elbows with the big wigs down at CB2 really paid off, or maybe…hmmm. Assembly was a synch; my spider monkey really put those disposable thumbs to good use. Don’t worry he did throw them away after one use; he gets their money’s worth! If I were a caveman, I would say, “You buy lamp, lamp good!”

Great modern lamp

I live in a studio and have went for a minimal, modern look with some fancy eclectic details. This lamp provides both. It is easy to put together. I love that the on/off switch is by foot pedal. Perfect aesthetic! Have received several compliments on it.

I purchased this lamp and did not expect for it to be such a standout peice in my living room. I think this purchase was worth every penny and I love my new white lamp. The lamp shade appears about as twice as large in person than in the photo. Enjoy!

easy to put together, fits perfectly in my bedroom and provides lots of ambient light (I don't have any overhead lighting which is why I needed a substantial floor lamp). lamp style is pretty neutral -- will fit with any decor. definitely recommend.

This lamp is extremely sturdy and well made. The scale is great for our living room, which is small, but has high ceilings. Very clean design.
