Cool design, but needs a good space to work.

We ordered this lamp off of the website, and not seeing in person first was a drawback. The lamp is much bigger than we expected, and really needs a specific spot in a room to fit. Also, the tilted design does create some less than attractive views of the interior of the fixture, as others have noted. It did not meet our expectations and we sent it back. Probably better for a big space, with higher ceilings.

Good quality, but some design limitations to think about before purchasing:
1 the back doesn't look good because the wooden post shows through the shade
2 the front doesn't look good either unless you are standing up and your eyes are level with the shade ; if you are sitting down, you can see what's inside the shade because of the tilt

So it really only looks good as depicted here, if you turn it any other way you will see things you won't like.
And as usual, the provided light bulb is not enough to actually light a space (people buy lights to... light).

This lamp is a great value for such an original design made of solid wood. I was immediately drawn to the shape of the base, the red cord, and the angled shade. It's this last feature, though, that isn't entirely positive. Because the shade tilts up some views of the lamp allow one to see inside the shade to the hardware and (when close enough) the bulb. Some judicious placement in the room negates this drawback, but be aware that this unusual design requires a sweet spot.
I took my shade out of the box and immediately found it had three small creases where it was bent during shipment. Called CB2 and they authorized replacement immediately. Very pleasant experience all around at the 4th Street Berkeley store.

Nice lamp. Dimmer switch a bit iffy

The lamp looks really good and was easy to assemble. The dimmer switch is not the best though and the light flickers and makes a loud hum if you dim the light.

this lamp is modern and fantastic.modtastic. I bought the floor lamp which is super easy to assemble. 5 minutes 2 bolts. the wood matches any decor and the red cord is stunningly simple and distinctive.The light is more of a bright glow because the white shade is quite large so i wouldn't really read by it but you could.Its more of an ambiance light for a large room.
