2-piece kamba sisal basket set

limited edition: One of a Finds original works are offered one time only in a small reserve. This special CB2 find has a limited edition release of 200. dream weavers. This authentic kyondo basket is handwoven by women of the Kamba, a Bantu ethnic group indigenous to the eastern province of Kenya. A matrilineal tradition passed down from mother to daughter, group basket-making sessions called "merry go rounds" instill a sense of purpose and cohesion among the tribe. In a labor-intensive process that can take weeks, eco-friendly sisal fibers are harvested, dried, dyed and woven into intricate warps and wefts. Lined in native kente cloth, the vibrant geometric patterns are a visual celebration of African art, symbolizing either the sun (orange) or the earth (green). Kamba baskets are an exclusive CB2 collaboration with Bawa La Tumaini ("Wing of Hope"), a fair trade organization that empowers impoverished Kenyan people by teaching them to sew. This sustainable skill becomes the foundation for their unique works of art...and the means to a better life, providing their families with food, shelter, healthcare and education. -Handwoven sisal -Poly/cotton lining -Made in Kenya Visit blog.cb2.com to learn more about Bawa La Tumaini.
