Awful!
Date:09/29/2012
I ignored the other bad reviews. I already have the vapor stools (LOVE!) for my breakfast bar, so I thought I'd try a different type of CB2 stool for more seating. First of all, they came damaged. The "wood" was chipped/chipping off the legs. Second, the red metal rim hurts. Most people like to rest their feet when on a bar stool, but even with shoes on, the ring digs into your feet. I returned and thankfully it was free return shipping due to the damage. Nice looking, but not practical or worth the price.

We bought this stool for our daughter when she moved into her new place. It is so awesome! Well built, attractive, comfortable. Great buy for that modern contemporary look!

Cool Stool!
Date:09/04/2012
This awesome stool goes perfectly with my drafting table and also really well in my workshop, and I end up dragging it back and forth between the two locations almost daily because I use it so much. It's very well constructed and I've sat on it for hours and have never been uncomfortable, although the foot rest is a bit thin. It's also surprisingly light and easy to move around, which is why I haven't broken down and bought another one *quite* yet, though it's definitely on my list because I love this thing.
Easy to put together, really well made, and hey, it works really well for me. I can definitely see some people being put off by the thin footrest, but it's never bothered me, with the exception of maybe one time after an all nighter of working in my shop.
I do have to say...I'd love to see this in other colors too! The red is awesome, but it would be fun to have some variety!

Uncomfortable, poor quality
Date:08/25/2012
I got this barstool back at the end of December so, granted, it's been almost nine months.
However, the other day the top of the barstool simply snapped off while my boyfriend (who weighs about 150 pounds) was sitting on it. Thank goodness he didn't get hurt.
You'd think that CB2's furniture would be higher quality than that and last at least a year.
Needless to say, I don't recommend this barstool. Even if it doesn't break while you're sitting on it, it's very uncomfortable to rest your feet on the metal rim. Why didn't they just make the rim flat? Weird design decision.

cute but...
Date:07/08/2012
i bought 4 of these from the store via the phone and they were delivered the next day - totally impressed with the customer service. However, 1 of them broke 4 days later..the top came off from the legs. very disappointed with the quality although everyone thought they were cute. the metal part is also very painful to rest our legs on. will be returning them.

Form yes, function no

It breaks my heart to give these stools 3 stars because they're so beautiful; the mango wood has a lovely grain and the orang-red metal details really make these a statement piece. However, they are unbelievably uncomfortable. The wood seat is small and has zero contouring so your bum hurts the second you sit. Worse still is the foot rest ring, which is a thin piece of metal that digs into your feet like something fierce unless you're wearing thick-soled shoes. All in all, very disappointing ergonomically. I had to buy stool cushions to make them useable, which of course takes away from their raw beauty.

Good stool for not outrageous price.
Date:02/28/2012
Had stools about 3 weeks now, here's the scoop. Aesthetics: Nice looking stool. The bit of red gives a bit of life to an otherwise easily overlooked piece of furniture. Mango wood looks similar in appearance to walnut. Usefulness: The seat is an average size, probably small for people with larger behinds. The edge on the seat can feel a bit sharp with prolonged sitting, as can the foot rest with bare or unclad feet. I'm tempted to router the stool seat to a softer roundover, but even after these two complaints, we already use the stools much more than the cheap megastore stools they replaced. The three legged bases work very well on our tile, which is very textured and made flat, round bases and four legged stools impossible to use (lots of rocking). Despite the three legs, they are very stable. The rubber bumpers on the bottom of the feet make movement and positioning quiet and non-marring.
Quick summary: I'd buy them again, but there is some room for improvement by the manufacturer (make seat edge less sharp and foot rest more comfy for bare feet). That's my two cents.

Looks great, feels uncomfortable
Date:01/12/2012
This barstool matches perfectly with my apartment. I love that it's adjustable and it was very easy to assemble.
That being said, the metal rim is quite uncomfortable to rest your feet on. I don't know why they didn't give it flat edges. The seat is comfortable enough though and swivels, and the wood is high quality.

Great buy
Date:08/04/2011
I needed two temporary stools for an inbetween remodel. These are just perfect. Super easy to assemble. I did it myself and I'm not that handy. Everyone comments on how cute they are. They seem to be good quality and definitely will serve the purpose for a great couner height stool.
