This original canvas is handpainted by an almost extinct community of Bollywood artists known for their kitschy, glam movie posters and sets. With the Mumbai film industry's move to digital vinyl billboards, the talent of these fine artists is no longer in demand. In an effort to keep this art form alive, these limited-edition, signed paintings from the hands of the original masters are commissioned exclusively by CB2. Once required to produce up to 20 posters a day during their movie careers, this special initiative provides the artists not only a new source of income, but the opportunity for a slower pace focused on their skills and passion for painting. This original map is truly elemental, handpainted on cotton canvas in a wash of colors ranging from henna to river mud. This map has already travelled with me to 3 different apartments and across the country. I love that CB2 is supporting hand-made items from artists all across the world. When I first opened the map, I could feel the authenticity of its craftsmanship. It is an essential part of my living space.

I love this painting. I'd been looking for a unique map for some time, and this fit the bill perfectly. It's a great size, the colors are amazing, and it's simply beautiful.

This is a beautiful map and a great value for the money. I had this framed; rated this a 4 versus a 5 because the framers had a hard time stretching the canvas because there wasn't enough white space on the ends. Other than this, it's a truly gorgeous, differerent piece of art.

This piece is a pleasure to look at - terrific colors, texture, composition, scale. The only drawback was the chemical odor when it arrived. Took about a week airing out in the garage before we could bring it in the house. It was worth the wait.

Beautiful, soothing colors in an abstract, yet simplistic design. I especially love the story about the artists- super cool. Plus the canvas covers a lot of space, for not a lot of dough$$$.

Great Piece, Better Price

As a first-time homeowner, I found myself with a lot of empty wall space to fill. I put this large piece in my home office and because it is a map, it fits in well with the surrounding bookcases filled with history and travel books. I had it framed because anything this size will be a focal point and gets lots of attention.

This is a beautiful piece of art, and even better, it is a limited edition, so it feels even more special! It is a good size, and will look perfect in my dining room. Rather than the hanging rails, I've chosen to have it framed.

A real treasure

Any map of the world I find humbles a person. This one in particular with it's suttleness does so in an inspiring way. I purchased the metal rods for hanging but decided his piece was deserving of much better and had it framed in an antique style frame. It is a beautiful conversation piece.

Great Conversation Piece!

I was very excited when the tube containing this print arrived! It was well packaged and arrived safely. The print has an authenticity that makes it feel as if it came right off of the artist's easel and into your home! The colors are great - we have it hanging in our family room where our color pallette is mostly sage and beige. We used the rails to hang it and my husband's only comment was that he wished the rails were woodtone instead of silver. The map also had a slight musty smell that faded in about a day. Overall I am really satisfied and am enjoying having this work of art in my home!

My husband and I purchased this for our home. It is subtle but expansive. We too have chosen to frame this work of art instead of using the rails. I like how each painting has a number assigned so that you know it's original and only a few available.

no suprises- it looks just like I expected. i love maps and globes and appreciate the story behind this map. the neutral colors make it very easy to go with most decor. i am holding out haging it till i can either have it framed or stretched, as i do not care for the look of the rails.

I was really drawn to this piece in the catalog and, overall, like it. Not sure if it's my eyesight or the lighting used in the catalog but when I took the map out of its shipping tube, the colors weren't as vibrant as what they appear to be in the catalog.

I'm a cartographer, so I love all maps and therefore I had to have this piece. We hung it over a bookshelf in our home office and it looks very nice. I would recommend a friend's help for the hanging rails as it was quite a headache to install by myself.

I really like this painting, the colors are lovely and it blends in well with the decor in my home without being distracting. It isn't easy to find a large piece of art that is so attractive and affordable, something told me I had to have it and I was right! However if you consider purchasing this piece, you should know it has a strong paint smell that hangs around -- I had to air mine out for a while.
