bengal coffee table

reclaim, restore, re-train. Rare saal wood is reclaimed from old Indian railroad ties, restored, and pieced in a natural plank mosaic surface of raw awe. Supported on industrial metal square tube legs, blackened with exposed welding marks. Legs are inset flush at the sides and notched in the top, becoming one with the patchwork. Wood is left unfinished in its natural state. -Reclaimed, unfinished wood top is from old rail ties -Top is plank style construction with plugged holes -Tops will vary -Wood characteristics: grain, knots and seasonal splitting are inherent to product -Raw metal legs have grind marks and are finished with clear powdercoat -Legs will vary

One of a kind, beautiful table
Date: 02/14/2010
An absolutely stunning, unique table. Each rail tie has its own distinct look, and the wood is expertly seamed together. It's a solid, heavy piece. It arrived very well packaged and assembly is a piece of cake. I'd definitely recommend using the beeswax sealant. Very happy with the purchase.

Difficult to Keep finish intact
Date: 02/12/2010
I would only recommend this table to someone who wants a table for looks only and doesn't ever want to put anything on it. I covered the table with a few coats of mylands color wax and it looked fantastic for about an hour. The wax isn't protective enough and the table has water spots and rings all over it.
I am going to have to resort to sanding it down and covering it a heavy lacquer. Which is a shame, because it is a lovely table, but I am tired of anytime someone comes over watching and protecting it like a hawk.

This beautiful table arrived right on time. It's easy to assemble, and quite heavy. The reclaimed raw wood is beautiful!

Beautiful table, needs work.
Date: 12/02/2009
This table is really heavy. Just as pictured: clean lines, interesting wood pattern and simple iron accents. This table looks great with any decor style/color.
This table being unfinished will soak up any liquid spills and leave a nasty mark behind (including wiping the table from any accidental stain - which is BOUND to happen to any coffee table). Beeswax, orange oil, Tung oil... doesn't really matter which one you use, just make sure you give this amazing table its proper finish.
And remember to keep your shins away from the table... or you will have a bruise to remind you.

Bengal Coffee Table - Excellent
Date: 11/23/2009
I ordered this table a couple weeks ago. It's so sturdy! It probably weighs about 50lbs, its surprisingly heavier than it looks. The unfinished wood is beautiful; however, I took some steps to finish the wood in order to protect it from stains as soon as it arrived at my apartment. I put 3 coats of Tung Oil Finish on the table that I picked up from Home Depot. I waited 24 hours between each coat for it to dry. The wood on the table is slightly darker now but the color it gets from the Tung Oil is really rich and the wood grain really pops. It looks beautiful; I get tons of compliments from everyone that see it. Delivery of the table was right on time and the delivery men were great. CB2 even called me a couple days later to make sure I was satisfied with my purchase.

Very Sturdy, Captivating
Date: 09/28/2009
The temptation to baby this table because of its "unfinsihed wood" status goes away as soon as you pull the 50 pounds of the table top from its packing. Attaching the steel legs furthers the notion that under this table is where you hide when the nukes drop.
The simple lines of the table and the random design of the wooden surface are a nice pairing. I know CB2 for quality furniture and this table furthers that reputation. Just don't bang your legs against it.

great coffee table
Date: 09/17/2009
I was very excited when CB2 came out with a saal wood coffee table (the saal wood dining room table was too big for my place). The table was very easy to put together and it looks great in my living room. I would agree with the other review -- the table is much heavier than it looks and seems like it will wear very well. Also - I called CB2 and was able to arrange to have the front desk accept the package so that I didn't have to be home for the delivery.

unique design
Date: 09/09/2009
Got this coffee table a couple weeks ago, very easy to put together. The first table I received was slightly damaged, and CB2 quickly sent me a new one. It was a painless swap and a week later I had a new table. I used a beeswax/orange oil to protect the wood, which darkened the table but did bring out the natural and complex beauty of the wood grain. Completes my living room quite nicely. Also the table is very heavy for the size and looks like it will last a long time.
