Great looking bed, and I love that it is hard wood. I have to agree with some of the reviews that your pillow keeps slipping into the shelf, if you don't have books in it. The floor model we saw at the store had the top shelf sagging in the middle. The salesperson however assured me that cb2 will replace it is something like that happened. Most of all though, what bothers me is that the bed is designed to have more than 2 inches of space on all 4 sides. This looks ugly, if you don't have thick duvets covering it, which we don't in the summer. It also means that if sometimes the mattress moves, one side can have unto 4 inches of space. Last night the mattress had moved toward the footboard and I lost a pillow in the space at the headboard.

Sitting right at the perfect height for comfy lounging, the Double Decker Bed is a relatively compact platform bed without huge side flanges and is not too low. The headboard's back cutouts are just low enough to clear the bottom of a power outlet and the hollow back under the mattress-height shelf is a great way to hide cords. Both upper and lower shelves, with the latter being exactly even with our 22" thick mattress, extend the full depth from front of headboard to where the back meets the wall so no gaps (good = your things won't fall into the abyss behind the bed; bad = not much clearance to pull power cords through). Footboard is the same height as the side rails.
Easy to put together with provided tools, but adjustable crescent wrenches make the job easier. Support slats are firmly held in place with a cutout in the frame and metal pins every 3 slats. Very sturdy construction, plenty of mattress support.
I would recommend attaching felt floor protectors to the bottoms of the legs if you have hard floors, as there are no feet on any of the 5 legs. We bought some heavy-duty adhesive felt pads that worked out great.

Received the bed quickly but when I opened the box one major piece was cracked. I called C S and they shipped the piece plus a spare or two next day air. It takes two people to assemble quickly and easily It has a rustic look to it and is very solid. It fits our mattress perfectly and looks great.

Our first platform bed and first bed with a headboard and we love it. The shelves are handy though pillows do fall into the bottom shelf. The wood is nice though much darker than it appears in the pictures on CB2. Shipping was fast and the bed was very easy to put together.

Love the finishing and the shelves. Perfect bed where I can have all my essentials within reach when I just want to curl up in bed to do my work or simply read a book or catch up with a bunch of magazines.

This is a great bed. Its easy to put together and looks even better in person. Delivery service was easy and my tempur-pedic mattress is perfect for it. The headboard's two shelves put it over the top!

First the good - the solid wood is gorgeous, the color is fantastic, it was easy for my handy husband to put it together, it doesn't squeak or creak at all, it's just a very nice looking bed.
Now my small complaints - pillows can slip back into the "shelf" and cause you to bump your head in the night (I think the solution is more pillows or bigger pillows), and finally I'm gigantically pregnant right now and I didn't realize that it would be a little difficult to get in and out of a bed that's so low to the ground--hopefully this is a temporary issue for me, husband has no problem with the bed height!

I've only had this bed for two days but I'm really excited about it. I spent hours and hours researching online and in stores for beds. I ended up choosing this one based primarily on looks. This bed is really cute. It's also practical though, because I don't really have room for a nightstand. I've placed my alarm clock, books, and a couple coasters on the shelf. I'm hoping to get a clamp light eventually. Getting rid of my box spring felt a little weird, but no regrets. This bed was a great purchase.

I received this bed about a week after I ordered it. The delivery went smoothly and quickly, and assembly was also easy. There was some heavy lifting involved, so it's better as a 2-person job. I think we were done within an hour.
I was impressed with how hard the wood was, and it is also very beautiful. There were some minor imperfections on some pieces--a couple nicks or marks, but all in all a fabulous bed for the price. I am very happy with it.
Because the wood was not flawless, I would maybe give it a 4.8, but after everything was assembled, it looks great.
The color is a deeper brown than I expected, but it goes perfect with the rest of my bedroom furniture. I would recommend this bed for sure.

I managed to break all the rules and assemble the bed by myself at my own risk. Fairly simple instructions.
I loved the simplicity and function of the design. I went from a boxspring to none at all, which was new to me, but hasn't been a problem. If you are into pillows, your frame will be lost visually, so keep that in mind.
My biggest concern was an odor from the bed or cardboard packaging. I assumed it was wet cardboard (I live in Seattle). After several weeks and attempts to air out the room, wipe down the wood, etc...I contacted customer service at CB2. They were extremely helpful and offered to replace my bed. I opted to not replace it, yet appreciate the lengths they took to help me figure out and resolve my issue.

Ok, I love books and must have them close to me (especially in bed) that is why I purchased this bed. Don't get me wrong- the construction and style is fabulous BUT two problems.
First, I found my books were falling behind the bed off the back of the "double decker" shelf. So, I would recommended having this bed up against a wall, and even then-- you may loose some books.
Second, that if you like to sit up in bed to read, there is no way to support yourself without knocking books/stuff off and falling through the gap in the the back.
Readers may be temped to buy this bed, but we forewarned that some things make it less-than-totally functional.

I was able to assemble this bed by myself in under 30 min. Everything fit together nicely, and it's very sturdy. It's not too low to the ground, but not so high you have to jump on it to get in it. The double shelf has been handy for books/magazines, mugs, etc.

I have had this bed for about 4 months and have absolutely no complaints. It was simple to put together by myself and I love the design. The color is as I expected from the website photos. Had been looking for awhile for a simple wood bed frame with modern detailing & this is it. When I received it, some of the slats were damaged & customer service was quite helpful & immediately shipped a new set for me.

Amazing Bed

I ordered this bed about six months ago and it's the best furniture purchase I've ever made. The bed is beautiful, easy to assemble (I'm a small girl and I assembled it myself in less than an hour), and well made, and the two shelves are convenient for holding books, glasses of water, etc. Lastly, the price is great for a bed this sturdy, practical and attractive. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

This Bed Will Last for Years to Come

The best thing about this bed is that it will never go out of style, and if you decide later on down the road to change up the interiors of your bedroom, you won't have to buy another bed because it fits in almost every modern style. My husband and I were looking for an affordable, classy, minimalist bed that allowed for the room to look clean, yet comfortable. We researched intensely and decided to order the double decker online without seeing it in person. The wood finish is true to the pictures online, it was easy to assemble, and all of its parts are sturdy and high quality. Plus, 600 dollars for a bed? So cheap! We adore it and plan to have it for years to come.

The bed is great. The simple clean lines look great in any room and it is really sturdy. I was at first worried about the pillow sliding into the shelf area, but eventually got used to it. Also enough room to put underbed storage just barely, so you don't see the boxes too much which is great.

We purchased this bed after looking around for months for a decent looking platform bed that didn't cost a fortune. We were thrilled when CB2 recently opened a store in Atlanta where we could see the quality of the wood in person. This is absolutely a high quality product made of real wood, not particle board. It looks beautiful in our bedroom, the shelves are incredibly functional for storing books and lights, and we now get a much more comfortable sleep with the added support from the platform style.

I had a hard time finding a lower profile queen size bed that did not require a box spring - this bed fit the bill perfectly. It was designed with clean lines so that it looks light, but has the quality of a heavier bed. The shelf at the headboard is perfectly situated so that you can prop yourself up with pillows, but still have a cubbyhole to keep bedside items. The best part is that my husband was out of town when it came in, and as heavy as the pieces are, it was easy enough to put together that he came home to a bed and not a box.
