This round bowl is nice and substantial in size and thickness, but other than that there is nothing particularly amazing about it.

this is not a fish bowl
Date: 09/03/2009
I bought this to use as a fish bowl but it broke the first time I picked it up with water in it. The glass is very thin and can't sustain the weight of water. It's super cute and I loved it for the little time I had it, but don't fill it with anything heavy or the bottom with fall out.

I would give this product a 5 star rating but one thing slightly irks me about these bowls. When it comes to many of the clear glass items that CB2 and other similar stores carry I see that some have all these bubbles that I assume got trapped during the glass making process. Aside from this being unsightly I wonder if excessive bubbles in the glass creates dangerous stress/weak points in the glass.
I chose several for purchase with the least amount of bubbles in the glass. Unfortunately I made a second trip to the CB2 store to buy more bowls but had to leave empty handed because of all those unsightly bubbles and/or chips in the glass. I'll wait for them to restock and search for another one in the future. I use these bowls for my betta fish and they LOVE their new fin bowl home.

a spectacular daal for this price. its a very large bowl/vase. i have it on a coffee table to showcase my collection of mineral and gemstone spheres.
you would use this for a fish bowl or terrarium as well. This would look lovely with river rocks, some water and floating candles. really the possibilities are endless. Its a beautiful piece of a fair weight and stunning size for such an economical price

Dramatic Abode for a Beta fish
Date: 05/09/2009
I bought the fin bowl vase based on my memory of an early scene of an old Hollywood B movie, "Double Indemnity" starring Barbara Stanwick and Fred MacMurray. In Barbara S's living room was a similar bowl sitting on a parsons table behind her couch with (I think) a single goldfish.
I like my bowl very much. It rests on a half-wall between my entry and the living room and is at eye-height. Bubba, my Beta, looks great, and I can go for almost two weeks before changing the water. (Betas are much cleaner fish than goldfish!)
My only potential problem is the weight of the bowl that holds so much water. Probably a good number of people may think it is too heavy to deal with.

cool thing is this fish bowl does not look like any other fish bowl you may have seen. its clean and can stand alone as art.
