Since they are plastic, I experimented on one with spray paint. It took really well but needed a couple of light coats. I painted them different colors, framed them and hung them in our office suite. No one could believe they are placemats!!

We got the white ones. Really do look like linen. Almost formal but fun. An interior designer saw them and asked where we find "high quality table linens". Only thing I don't like is the brand logo embossed into the top surface. Admittedly, it is subtle but... I've bought other Chilewich products and they had removable labels. This is not an improvement.

The designer of these placemats hit the nail on the head when designing these placemats. They created a design that is not only beautiful but practical for everyday use. I took another readers suggestion and lined the underside of these placemats with Christmas wrapping paper to bring out the colors of the season.

Very unusal use of this product

I purchased one white and one green placemat. I have placed brown metalic wrapping paper behind each mat and framed them for art. Very unusal and very interesting as you can see the texture of the mats. I have used these in the kitchen on taupe colored walls with brown quartz countertop, white cabinets and brown, taupe and white glass tile backsplash. At adds a very modern touch to the art.

i have these in the light lime green color and they go great with my round glass table. i have a splash of lime in my dining area and in my kitchen and these go perfect. not to mention they clean really easily since they are vinyl and not linen.

Love the design and function of this placemat. It is easy to clean and store away, since the material is vinyl. If you're looking to brighten up your table setting, you can go wrong with the green ones.

I loved the way these Chilewich placements looked. I picked them up for their cool texture and because they were more affordable than the other Chilewich placemats. They looked great in real life. My main problem was that they are not nearly as easy to clean as the product description suggests. I tried wiping, then soaking, then machine washing these to get food spills out, to no avail.
Great for special occasions, but not stain-resistant enough for everyday use. Still, they're cheap enough that you can buy new ones without feeling too guilty.

These place mats are such a great design...and they do double duty at my house. I have a set of green for the table and then linked two of the white together for a make-shift privacy shade for the bathroom window. Perfect!

Very cool item, but if you have a delicate table or finish, perhaps another placemat would be best. Easy for rings from drinks to find their way to the table surface. Overall, satisfied with purchase.
