Must have in a college student's room.
Date: 02/05/2010
If you work, study, sleep and invite your friends to your room, this flex sofa will surve the purpose. It is very firm (if you like firm mattresses). Orange color will brighten your room. Good quality. Maybe a little over-priced, but delivery chargers were not too high. I recommend this product.

Perfect for Small but Modern Living Space
Date: 02/01/2010
I moved to Berkeley recently and downsized from a home to an apartment. My goal was to mix antiques and contemporary furniture and this sofa works perfectly. Unlike some of the other reviewers, who use this for guests, we use it every night as our bed. We add a feather bed on top and our duvet and comforter make up a great and comfortable full size bed. We couldn't be happier with this purchase. During the day, our bedroom functions as another living room!

Excellent Sofa for Apartment Living
Date: 10/15/2009
The flex sofa lives up to its name, being the perfect convertible for a small 2nd bedroom/home office combination. The modern style is much more attractive than your average futon, and the coil mattress is much more comfortable as well. it IS a little firm, so I would recommend a nice mattress pad. Also it says it takes queen sheets, but it's 4" narrower than a standard (double), so I would buy double sheets instead.

Love The Flex Sofa
Date: 10/14/2009
I purchased the flex sofa in gravel for my studio apartment and have never been happier. It looks great, it is sturdy and the three positions make it perfect for all of my needs. Far superior to a sofa bed or futon. It is very firm and offers great back support. I added a pillow top for a little cushion and have never had a better nights sleep.

Firm and flexible

The are just as designed flexible and firm. Great style and the metal bars support at the bar are not noticeable. The feet are shinny metal so great for a modern home.

comfortable with some flaws
Date: 09/29/2009
Love the cushion. It really feels like a firm bed mattress. But after less than six months of simply sitting on it, a nearly two-inch rip appeared on one of the fabric seams. It's probably a fluke with our particular sofa because construction seems otherwise good, but it's very disappointing considering the price of the sofa! Also, I find the most upright setting to be too upright. We keep ours at the middle setting, which is comfortable if you have plush pillows behind your back.

Perfect Smart Design-bed or couch
Date: 09/25/2009
We bought this flex sofa to be the guest bed in our second bedroom--and a couch for days when we had no guests. It is just the right size and a perfect firm mattress to sleep on. Every person that visits tells us that they are going to buy one for their home! We have become the flex sofa trendsetters--and it is such a good price for all the solutions that it provided, in one piece of furniture. Love the upholstery--we got the grey.

Back needs to be about 4 inches from any wall
Date: 09/21/2009
This is a wonderful couch if you like firm, modern looking couches. That said, I ended up returning it because the legs in the back stick out so far that there was about a 3-4 inch gap from the back of the couch to the wall. It's the perfect spacing if you have it at the 45-degree angle (which I'd only use occasionally), but simply was a waste of precious inches in my small space. Plus I did notice that it doesn't go from 90 to 45. If it's at 90 you have to get it all the way flat and bring it back up to 45. Minor detail but perhaps important to some.

Sexy and Functional
Date: 09/20/2009
I was in the market for a sleeper sofa but didn't want the traditional type of sleeper. The flex sofa was a perfect alternative, bringing me a stylish multi-functional piece.
My guests complemented me on how great it looks in the room and how well they slept.
In addition, the delivery was on-time and the delivery staff were very courteous.

Great, versatile couch
Date: 09/08/2009
I really like the look and feel of this couch. I also like that the seat is deep enough so that you can curl your legs onto it easily. It is firm for sleeping, but we have an extra thick mattress pad, and that makes it pretty darn comfortable. Also, one person can maneuver it -- turning it from bed to couch and vice versa. That is great!

Very comfortable for sleeping
Date: 09/07/2009
We purchased the Flex sofa for our playroom, which serves as a guest room from time to time. Wanted something big enough for 2 adults and more comfortable than pull out couches and regular futons. It's impossible to find a queen sized sleeper in this style, so this isn't as big as I would have liked but it seems slightly larger than a double bed and the cushion/mattress is certainly more comfortable than your run of the mill futon. Not lumpy at all, no gaps-very well made and comfy. The fabric is great-no maintenance at all and very stain resistant. The color is a nice dark mocha. Very happy with our decision!

Look No Further
Date: 09/03/2009
I shopped around for a sleeper sofa for a couple of years. Everything I found seemed to be the wrong style, quality, or price. I am indeed 'space-challenged', so I needed something that could function as a sofa, but also as a bed that could be used every night. Luckily, I was able to try out the Flex Sofa in person. I was very impressed with how it was built and the firmness of the mattress, from a sleeping viewpoint. I was also pleased with how easily it transforms from sofa to bed and vise versa. It could hardly be more perfect!

Stylish, Sophisticated Futon Upgrade
Date: 09/03/2009
We recently purchased Flex (in Gravel) for our finished attic, which we are hoping will become our young children's room (any day now, please). Stylish and sophisticated, it's a real upgrade to our old schlumpy futon and to quote Lebowski, really "ties the room together." It is a breeze to adjust. The only caveat, as others have commented, is that it is ROCK hard for sleeping.

Perfect office sleeper sofa
Date: 09/02/2009
We were very pleased with both the delivery of our flex sofa as well as the sofa itself. The sofa has a very high-quality and durable material, and looks classy and modern. In addition, we have already had a guest sleep on it, and he found it quite comfortable. My husband, a professor, uses it to read on, in his office, and appreciates the high back of the sofa which gives him support we have not found in other sofas.

Wonderful
Date: 07/18/2009
Bought this for daughter's playroom and for extra guest bed. It is wonderful. Beautiful durable fabrice, nice clean lines, very easy to adjust between flat, 45, and upright. It is also very comfortable. It feels a bit stiff at first, but sits and sleeps extremely well.

Multi-tasker
Date: 07/16/2009
I needed a sofa in a second floor office in my home with a very narrow 1920's staircase with a complete right turn at the top. I travelled to Soho to check it out before buying--it looks really uncomfortable and while I loved the green color, I wasn't sure about this charcoal color.
In person, I saw the easy way it opens and closes and while it's firm, it's definitely a nice place to spend a few nights. The fabric quality is rugged and modern--absolutely perfect for those with dogs that sleep on their furniture. I have two 70 lbs. dogs who probably spend more time on my furniture than I do and I've never actually seen better fabric suited to them than this.
The color is less olive than it shows--it's not gray either. It ended up being a dark taupe that is very versatile.
The delivery was a bit of a nightmare but it ended up working out after a bit of struggle. The delivery guys were nice and didn't give up when I would have. They didn't realize it folded and I didn't know how to quite do it. (Turns out, it's easy.) It came assembled even though I was told it wouldn't. Due to some miscommunication, the delivery guys didn't think it could come more unassembled. It's supposed to come with the mattress separate from the metal base...and if yours doesn't, let them know it's possible to detach it with NO harm to it and the mattress can then fold in half.
This is a great alternative to a space where you think you can only get a futon with so much more style and durability...for grown-ups! It's a Junior queen--not quite as wide but as long so having those sheets on hand is key. I haven't had my first guests yet but I'm sure they'll love it.

Awesome Flex Sofa
Date: 03/21/2009
I purchased the Flex Sofa about a year ago, it is great. We use it as a nice sofa to watch TV. It is very comfortable. Also, it is perfect for guests... From experience it is very comfortable to sleep on folded or flat. It very unique and cleans well! Great for small living space, with no spare rooms. Would recommend to anyone looking for a futon but are looking for something more trendy and stylish.

great sofabed at great price point
Date: 03/19/2009
we were getting sick of our collegiate futon, and wanted to spring for something a bit more grown-up... though we couldn't exactly spend thousands on a new sofabed. this is an excellent choice: clean, elegant lines (fits in well with most decor) make it look fancy, but it's not absurdly expensive. it's super comfortable in a firm, supportive, upright way--i can sit on it for hours writing, and still feel okay. that means it's not a mushy-cushy sofa, so for sleeping we tend to put blankets on top for our guests. (seems like a good idea in general, since there's no washable cover.) best of all: super easy to recline and reposition; one person can handle it (NOT the case with the old futon!).
