One thing to note is, this is a HEAVY table for its size. I live in a 5 floor walk up apartment. CB2 will only deliver to the 3rd fl. Then you have to either carry yourself, or pay and additional $15 per box per floor.
Me and my husband thought we could handle it, so we sent the delivery guys on their way. OMG, this table is HEAVY! I think its 170 lbs. Its as thick as a butchers block! I suggest you have 2 strapping males, maybe even 3 to carry this table if needed.
I read all the reviews and did some research on what kind on finnish to put on the table. Please note, the table comes raw. You have to put some sort of a seal to keep it from getting rings... We put Teak oil. 3 coats, top and bottom. It took at least 24 hours to dry between coats. We sanded in-between coats with fine 0000 steel wool. If you want a perfect smooth table, you will need to give this table a major sanding before putting any finnish on it.
This project took about a week to complete. Just know what you are in for. The table is priced well, because it is an un-finished table. The hand rubbed oil takes some time, but really makes the table worth double.
By the way, does anyone have any tips on how to darken the sanded spots on the metal legs? The top and bottom of legs are sanded so that the dark grey patina is worn off. I tried using a metal patina and had no luck. Any tips?
