I needed to cover up the horrid door and mismatched wall that housed the door frame but without having to paint it, so I measured the entire wall and got about a dozen of the Fedora Flor tiles.
I was warned these would not hold up with double sided tape and had to be tacked or nailed but I wanted to achieve a seamless look so I went to the hardware store and bought a tube of mirror mastic gum.
The gum works great! It can hold a heavy glass mirror even under high humidity or dry weather, so it is definitely strong enough to handle individual tiles. Precise cutting is a breeze with a box cutter, just make sure you use a metal ruler and you score the back first, then gently repeat the cut until it breaches the fabric for a clean cut. Then add a few gumball sized drops of the gum and press it against the wall and hold for a few seconds until it sets.
Great upholstered wall effect or above a headboard for a sleek and seamless look. The composite backing coupled with the fabric front also has excellent sound proofing characteristics.
