studio office chair

Cushy job. Bungee-style cords, a gas lift, rolling casters and a swivel spin make this executive chair worth the ride to the top. Strong elastic black cords give firm, cushioned support and lessen fatigue. Black-on-black cords, powdercoated steel frame, casters and neoprene detailing mean business. •Steel frame •Elastic cord seat and back •Gas lifting mechanism •Neoprene accents for comfort

Awesome! 10/26/09
We bought this for our teenage daughter to have her own work space in her room, and it is just about perfect! My husband assembled it very quickly; the fit and finish is great for this price point, and we all found the chair really comfortable - more comfortable than the chair I use at my desk that cost hundreds more!

Easy, Comfy, Dusty 10/6/09
We purchased two of these site-unseen based on the reviews (brother picked them up in Chicago).

The chairs were super easy in assemble, taking about 5 minutes for each. Most of the packaging was recyclable.

I spend about 8-10 hours in one of the chairs daily in my home office. It's quite comfortable and I have yet to get fatigued from sitting in it.

The chairs fit in well in my home office, though the one thing I've noticed is that the flat surface under the seat's bungie cords accumulates dust and "grimblies", which show up pretty easily since the whole chair is black. Keep a duster nearby if it bothers you. This is the only reason I give it 4 rather than 5 stars.

A word with the engineering department? 9/23/09
I love this style of chair, and CB2 has made it affordable for the masses. It is comfortable, low-profile and it looks cool.

My problem is that there is too much play in the tilt locking mechanism. When it is in locked position then it freely bounces backwards and forwards several degrees when you adjust your weight. Also it makes a little clanging noise with metal on metal.

This could be solved with a 2-cent rubber sleeve around the locking bar to make a snugger fit and stop the metal clang. I wrapped a rubber band around mine and this helps, but looks a bit ghetto.

No more pains after a long days work!!! 9/22/09
I work from home everyday and have had the same office chair for about 4 years. It was a good chair, but at the end of the day my back would always be sore. And I just thought, well I am sitting down at the computer all day so of course thats why.
Well after receiving the CB2 catalog and moving in with my girl, I felt it was time for a new chair to match the new apartment which is more modern than my last place. Then changed my mind and just decided to save my money because my other chair was still in good shape. Well my lovely girl noticed that I was looking at the chair and almost bought it but changed my mind, and what do you know, it shows up a few weeks later. And wouldn't you know, no more back pains after sitting at my desk all day. Awesome is all I got to say. Oh and thanks to my girl. I would recommend this chair to anyone who sits at a deck for hours at a time. Totally worth it, no sore back, much better sleep, and a nice chair overall.

Thanks a lot...

Wonderful Tasking Solution/Excellent Value 9/11/09
I was a little skeptical at first, but after reading some of the other reviews, I decided to order the chair and give it a chance.

It's been an outstanding addition to my home office, and people regularly comment about the chair when they come over (as they do with almost everything I pick up from CB2).

Assembly was straight-forward and quick right out of the box. One of the best purchases I've made from CB2!

this is a cool chair and becomes even better when you sit in it !
It is almost the little sofa for the office .
makes you help spending hours on your p.c without even
knowing it ! A cool black design that works finally in a lot of interiors spaces.
my friend from Europe discovered it and purchased one for his personnel use !
cb2 helped us to get it oversees !
we hardly recommend it !

Great chair 9/4/09
I've been looking for a "bungee cord" type chair for a long time and was thrilled to finally find one. It is exactly as comfortable as I'd hoped. The rollers move smoothly on the floor - AND - my husband said it was super-easy to assemble.

most comfortable office chair ever 9/3/09
I first saw this office chair in the catalog. Looked way too modern for me. I had an opportunity to visit a CB2 store in Chicago and after sitting, spinning, rocking and then finally working with this chair, I thought it was GREAT. Very supportive of my chronic bad back. Style fits any decor. Have recommended this office chair to all who would listen to me.

THE HOME STRETCH 9/3/09
The CB2 Studio Office Chair ingeniously
combines comfort, support, and affordability
with a contemporary cushion of black bungee
cords, hydraulic lifter, and arching swivel. You
will feel like you're relaxing in the Museum Of
Modern Art. The high-tech design and sturdy
components will make NASA engineers envious.
The price is ridiculously affordable. Get the coolest
saddle that an office jockey could ever ride ...

Comfortable and stylish chair 9/3/09
This chair really is comfortable and supportive, perfect for a home office. It is also very cool looking. I am thinking of adding a thin black cushion to the seat as I like to sit with one leg tucked under me when I work, and that's not so comfy on the cords. But overall I really like this chair and recommend it.

Great Value 9/3/09
This chair was easy to assemble and is very comfortable. Plus, it looks great in our new office space. I like its sharp, clean lines and the fact that it is see-through (not dense and blocky like many office chairs). I found a similar chair locally, but it was more expensive and would have taken 6-8 weeks to arrive from "the warehouse." My cb2 chair was not only less expensive, it was delivered to our office within 3 business days!

Generally excellent, with one little drawback... 9/3/09
I looked into buying other ergonomic desk chairs (such as the Aeron or Mirra) but eventually settled on the Studio Office Chair because of the price. In comparison to those other chairs, it is a real bargain, and is in general quite comfortable--I had minor back problems with my last chair, but they seem to have been solved by this chair. My one complaint is that the seat should be a little wider--my legs sometimes end up resting on the sides rather than on the bungee cords, and this can create a little discomfort. This isn't a killer, but I am also not a terribly big guy--a larger person might have real problems with this.

not an Aeron...but good for the $ 9/3/09
This chair is very good, but it isn't fantastic. However, for the price it is the best you'll get I think. As somebody with severe RSI problems my view is a bit hyper critical. First, i will say it is generally very comfortable - the bungee cords distribute weight well and are good for long periods of sitting. The main problem I have is with the arm rests which are not padded and generally uncomfortable - not horrible, but not that good either. Finally, there is zero lumbar support so you may need to use a pillow for your back. In general I am happy with the chair and would recommend it but don't think you are getting top-of-the-line with this.

Awesome Chair!! 9/2/09
I was SO pleased with my new chair, I had to write a comment. My purchase was heavily influenced by the other reviews and I must say, they are all true. I sit for long hours at work on a designer brand name chair - which ranges in price of $800-$1,000 and its a great chair, but way out of my budget for my home office. I was looking for a chair with similar comfort and this one is on the same level of comfort as my work chair and I couldn't be happier. It is SO comfortable and doesn't cause pressure when sitting which was a huge problem with other chairs I have had. It took my husband only minutes to put together. Such a great purchase, I highly recommend it and will probably be buying another for my home office.

Comfortable but flawed 9/1/09
I had seen this chair in CB2's catalog many times, but had ignored it when shopping for a new office chair. After a recommendation from a friend and having read the many positive reviews on this site, I decided to abandon my dreams of buying a high-end chair and give this a try. I've had good luck with CB2 in the past.

First, the positives: The chair IS comfortable. The bungee cords provide adequate support, seem to help a bit in improving circulation and reducing numbness, and allow some airflow - helpful in hot climates where the infamous "sweaty butt" syndrome is all too common. The seat's construction seems durable and the lack of extraneous padding will probably keep this looking fresh a bit longer than your average $99 vinyl chair. And it is quite attractive, honestly. It fits well within my very modern house and strikes a nice balance of looking sharply techie without being a ridiculous attention-grabber.

The downsides:

* The lower half of the chair is cheap city. Generic injection-molded plastic that doesn't have much style or substance. The wheels are hard, sharp, and rattly, and they refused to roll on my plastic chair mat. I tried putting the chair right on my wood floor, and it started scuffing up the floor immediately. I have an area rug under it now, and that's working better. Premium rollers these are not.

* If you have larger thighs, you won't be happy. I'm a weightlifter and have bigger-than-average legs. I've found that the arms of the chair are constantly digging into my flesh. Not terrible, not a deal killer, but I can't spread out my legs too much. (Probably better for my posture anyway, but thought you should know.)

* The clacking and clanking that this thing makes - a mere two weeks into owning it - is driving me crazy. Shift your weight a few inches? *CLICK* Lean back a bit? *CLACK* It's unnerving and speaks to the low-end construction. Definitely a disappointment. Maybe just my unit but still...disappointing.

Despite the good price and reasonable blend of design and comfort, I don't think I'd buy this again.

love this chair 9/1/09
very comfy. easy assembly. I bought it to accompany the Trig White glass desk...they go together extremely well, but I decided not to attach the keyboard tray because it was a bit cumbersome when the chair was pushed all the way under the desk.
